It is often believed that a brand begins with a logo. Although a logo is a very important part of a brand, it is certainly not the be all and end all. Many people get confused between a brand and visual identity, assuming that they are synonymous. 
Although both are heavily intertwined, they are indeed separate entities.

A visual identity is the form in which the brand communicates to it's audience visually. This can include a logo, typeface, colours, illustrations, symbols and photography style. A brand does include a visual identity but it is predominantly a word to describe the 'feel' of a business - it's personality, tone of voice, a psychological connection with an audience - and that's what sells a business. 

A brand encompasses the whole journey of a business, from that very moment it was sketched out on a napkin in a pub, to the highly polished output that is created for the world to see. It is very easy to lose sight of brand values through this process and remember why the business began in the first place. At Bloom, we want to find out what that sketch in the pub looked like.
