The Process

The Institute of Development Studies first approached us when they were looking for some external support and training for their communications team. With a focus on Google Analytics, SEO and overall content marketing, IDS had a clear plan in place: they wanted to boost the reach of their brand and appear in front of more people.

We began by carrying out an initial assessment, looking into the makeup of their team and their individual skill sets and day-to-day roles. We soon discovered that they had a widely spread team, based in lots of departments, and that training and toolsets that focused on cohesion and coordination would be critical to the success of the company. We were also aware that highlighting the importance of the team’s individual efforts in relation to overall organisational goals would be essential.

We started by looking at the organisation’s objectives and fashioned these into tangible and digital KPIs that could be set and measured in Google Analytics. With these goals in mind, we then curated the relevant GA and SEO training taking into consideration individual department roles and skills.

Throughout the process, we continuously monitored the team to ensure they were on board with the training and understood each module. In total, over 20 members of staff were upskilled, across three different digital disciplines. We also set about creating a base data studio dashboard to allow easier reporting and sharing of information throughout the organisation.

The staff who took part in the digital training are now well-equipped with the tools, resources and understanding to be able to roll out further training to new and existing staff companywide.
