Migrating to Google Analytics 4

It sounds scary, but we promise you it’s not - there are just a few things to do to keep your data ticking.

We're here to help you understand the upcoming Google Analytics 4 (GA4) changes, how to migrate your data and what you need to be doing as a business owner to keep things on track. With in-depth knowledge in Google Analytics implementation, reporting and training, our team are on a mission to help!

Why do I need to migrate to GA4?

Whilst you can technically wait until next year to make the change, you will lose valuable data and insights that keep your business growing.

We recommend everyone migrates from GA3 to GA4 before the 1st July 2022 to ensure you keep hold of all your year on year insights.

How do I migrate to GA4?

There are two ways you can go about this. Follow Google’s guide to setting up GA4 to take things under your own wing.
Or you can kick back, relax and let us do the legwork. We will:

  • Migrate your website and/or app to google analytics 4

  • Test your data is appearing correctly

  • Set up goals & conversions to track marketing ROI

  • Parallel run both versions until GA3 switch of July 2023

Why the change?

It’s a good question, and it seems like we’ve been through a fair few versions of Google Analytics already. But here are a few of the key features that are going to make GA4 better for business:

  • Unified user journey insights across websites and apps

  • Predictive insights using Google’s machine learning (AI) technology

  • Not relying on cookies as data collection laws get stricter

  • Uses an event-based data model to create a clearer picture of your user’s behaviour

  • Privacy is prioritised, the platform will no longer store IP addresses
